For Resort ’21 Suboo presents a high-octane collection of lounging separates and sparkling looks, made for a time of liberated joy.
Inspired by the free-spirited days described in the 60’s Beatles song ‘Good Day Sunshine’, where optimism and rock ‘n’ roll converged. If the 50s were in restricted black and white then the 60s were in full blown Technicolor, and this collection encapsulates the vibrant liberated mood of that era. ‘Kaleidoscope love child’ is fused with a modern attitude.
This season the Suboo girl is experimental, taking a new approach to life. ‘Good Day Sunshine’ is a collection made for this modern day freedom.
The collection combines striking fabrications of custom fine knits, metallic pleating and printed matt satin, with a chilled insouciance and pared-back silhouettes. Printed cotton poplin, linen blends and crinkle muslin give a natural sensibility in cool day pieces. Show-stopping moments are created with keyhole cut-out detailing accentuated by tortoiseshell resin rings and faceted beads.
The colour palette of citrus, fuchsia and sage green is pared with muted new neutrals mushroom and merlot, fresh ivory, and iridescent chrome and metallic pinks.
Swimwear this season focuses on dramatic silhouettes with a vintage influence. The ‘Kaia’ textured swim in ivory and black features new tort ring cut outs, updating classic Suboo shapes. ‘Lennon’ swim is printed on Repreve recycled lycra, spun from recycled plastic bottles.
The satin ‘Kaleidoscope’, paisley ‘Lennon’ and ‘Sundown’ ombre prints give a nostalgic nod to the summer of ’66, when ‘Good Day Sunshine’ was the soundtrack of the moment. A time in life when anti conformist, pro-love and widened consciousness reigned. Cool girls were free to be seen in their short skirts, stripe knits and flicked Twiggy eye-liner, in bustling streets and by sunlit pools at hidden house parties in the hills.
