Once again, we are proud to collaborate with Dress For Success. For every online order placed, we pledge to donate $1 from every purchase FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH to support the organisation's invaluable efforts in equipping women with the necessary resources for achieving financial independence.
What is the history and mission of Dress for Success?
Dress for Success is a global not-for-profit organisation that started in 1997. It has expanded to 150 cities in 25 countries - in Australia we're celebrating our 15th year of operation this year!
Dress for Success exists to level the playing field for women wanting to enter or re-enter the workforce. We believe that by investing in women, we are not only improving the lives of individuals, but we are also strengthening our communities and building a better future for us all. Every year, Dress for Success Australian Affiliates support more than 5,000 women into employment across the country. Powered by volunteers, our services are offered at no cost to the women who need them. We offer long-lasting solutions that alleviate poverty and empower women into employment to achieve independence.
What goals does Dress for Success aim towards?
There are three pillars where we aim for the greatest impact:
-
Poverty alleviation & financial stability - Through our complimentary styling service and Career Support Program, we assist women to face their job search with the confidence, clothing, and tools to get hired and become financially independent.
-
Women’s empowerment - We work to bridge the gap for vulnerable women by addressing unconscious bias and creating fairness and equality for female jobseekers; instilling confidence, building resilience, and restoring dignity.
-
Sustainability - We style our Clients in high-quality pre-loved workwear, committing to the circular fashion economy and the ethical disposal of clothing that may otherwise end up in landfill or a life unloved.
How is Dress for Success celebrating International Women's Day?
Our award-winning campaign, Empower Hour, is back for its eighth year! This year, we are aiming to support 750 women into employment nationally. Our services are in more demand than ever before. Women bear the brunt of the cost of living and housing crises, and the number of women facing hardship is increasing rapidly.
The UN International Women's Day theme this year is Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress. We are asking everyone to support our cause today, and count her into meaningful employment, a liveable wage, and a brighter future.
