“We eat light, drink it in through our skins” – James Turrell
Electric Avenue sees the Suboo woman impassioned by the creative works of abstract artists such as Rothko and the Light & Space movement from 1960’s California. Ethereal and atmospheric, yet often equally geometric and analytic, this paradox is reflected in Electric Avenue’s interplay between light and form.
Languid maxi lengths and drape are balanced with strong statement silhouettes, and light-refracting fabrics are woven throughout the collection.
Suboo’s signature use of colour is offset with neutral tones in special fabrications such as light refracting nude sequin and iridescent crystal mesh, signalling a more polished direction for the brand.
Moving towards more sustainable practices, the collection’s Lenzing Ecovero satin story rendered in chocolate metallic dresses uses 50% less water during fabric production, whilst the menswear inspired ‘it-girl’ tailoring story in Tencel blend mélange suiting also sets the stage for a more eco-conscious focus for the brand. The considered use of natural linen offers a thoughtful and timeless approach to wardrobe staples.
Walking down Electric Avenue, the Suboo muse is equally inspired and self assured, becoming the wearer to join along her journey.
